Sorry I didn’t get this entire sale posted earlier… Today, August 29, marks the last day of the Jewish Community Center’s Annual Used Book Sale. From 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. you can purchase used books by the bag. The sale is located at the Jewish Community Center of Houston, 5601 S. Braeswood.

If you’ve somehow missed it in the media, this weekend is Tax-Free Weekend in Texas! It’s typically scheduled the weekend before school starts to give families a little financial help on back-to-school shoping. As in the past, Texans can enjoy a break from local and state sales tax on most clothing, shoes, and school supplies priced under $100. On top of that, retailers are adding their own sales and discounts such as Macy’s One-Day Sale.

Check out the Texas government Web site for details. Savings equals about $8 for every $100 spent if you don’t mind fighting the crowds!
