ONCE AGAIN IT’S TIME to plan your weekend schedule.  Here are some free Houston activities and events that could be worth considering:

Get in the holiday spiritCelebrations Christmas Market is an anticipated annual event in West Houston. Unlike the big holiday markets that charge an admission fee, this holiday shopping mecca is free and features more than 100 vendors from across Texas.  Shop on Friday and Saturday November 6-7, 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Located at Second Baptist Church, West Campus, 19449 Katy Freeway.

Build a wooden craft — Let your kid beam with pride after building a free wooden craft!  The Home Depot offer free Kids’ Workshops on first Saturday of the month at The Home Depot.  This Saturday, kids build a wooden tile trivet at The Home Depot (9 a.m. – noon).

Celebrate art, food, wine — The Vintage Harvest Festival, at Vintage Park in NW Houston, features cooking demos by H.E.B., art tent, live music, kids’ zone, and more.  Watch the Vintage Park restaurant chefs battle it out in a one-of-a-kind food challenge!  Free admission to the event from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m. but tickets are required for wine tasting ($20 for 10 tastings).  Vintage Park is located off Hwy. 249 near Louetta Rd.

Spend the weekend on the Green — Each weekend, Discovery Green offers a variety of wonderful, free family-friendly activities and events.  But this weekend seems to be more than normal!  I won’t list them all separately, but here’s a quick glimpse — Silent Film Concert Series, Sustainability Fair, Paint Your Own Globe (for kids at HPL Express), Houston launch of Life is Living” national campaignSundays in the Park performance by D.R.U.M., as well as Yoga in the Park and Hip ‘n Fit Club. The Lowes website shows the garage building set for November the 14th, next weekend. Can you confirm what is going on this weekend?
