HCCC Curatorial Fellowship

The HCCC (Houston Center for Contemporary Craft) is looking for eligible applicants for its Curatorial Fellowship, which will run from September 2021 to September 2024. 
 
The HCCC Fellowship is a three-year grant-funded role that assists the Curator in planning, executing, and overseeing exhibitions that are held at or on behalf of the Houston Center for Contemporary Craft, a non-collecting organization committed to presenting creative exhibitions in the field of craft.
 

Curatorial Fellowship at HCCC – Responsibilities

The Curatorial Fellow collaborates with the Center’s staff to develop and execute in-person and interactive public services that further the Center’s mission and goals. Researching, developing, organizing, and installing exhibits, producing program content and interpretive materials, recording exhibition details, and acting as a docent and gallery attendant are all essential tasks.
 
The ideal candidate is an out-of-the-box thinker who is disciplined and capable of managing several short- and long-term projects, comfortable in a public-facing position, dedicated to working in a collaborative and fast-paced atmosphere, and enthusiastic about supporting the institution’s creative vision.

About HCCC – Houston Center For Contemporary Crafts

Houston Center for Contemporary Craft (HCCC) is a nonprofit visual arts center dedicated to advancing education about the process, product, and history of craft. HCCC provides exhibition, studio, and garden spaces to support the work of local and national artists and serves as a resource for artists, educators and the community at large.

HCCC is currently open limited hours: Thursday through Saturday, 10 AM – 5 PM. Closed major holidays. Timed reservations are required. Before visiting, the public should visit the website to make reservations and view the complete list of visitor guidelines, including the requirement to wear face masks and practice social distancing throughout the building.

HCCC is located in the Museum District at 4848 Main Street. Admission is free. Free parking is available directly behind the facility, off Rosedale and Travis Street. HCCC is three blocks south of Wheeler Ave. MetroRail station on Main Street.
