During the holiday season, Houston offers so many ways for you to get your Christmas lights fix. One of the best ways to do it is to tour the best Houston neighborhood Christmas lights.

Here are a few reasons why neighborhood Christmas light displays in Houston are so great:

Not only is this neighborhood Texas-sized with over 2100 houses in the area but residents here also put up Texas-sized displays every year. They simply go all out. Each year, the best-decorated homes are also awarded with prizes and even Hall of Fame titles. 

With the entire neighborhood’s commitment to the holiday spirit, you’ll find hundreds of displays and thousands of lights to explore. You could easily spend hours touring the entire neighborhood. The people here are lovely too and you can even stop by for a little chat. 

If you don’t have hours to tour the entire place, you can head straight to the highlights at Plantation Drive. Here, you can get out of your car and snap some pictures of the biggest and brightest displays in the neighborhood.

Prestonwood Christmas Lights Houston Neighborhoods

Another one of the best Houston neighborhood Christmas lights is the Prestonwood Nite of Lites. You can expect everything in this neighborhood to be lit up including doors, mailboxes, and lampposts. Some blocks even coordinate for a shared theme.

Given the popularity of the neighborhood, it’s best to make sure to allot time just in case of traffic. Also, if you want to spend more time taking pictures or walking around, please park outside of the neighborhood.

Christmas Holiday Lights in River Oaks

Every holiday season, River Oaks is one of the best neighborhoods for Christmas lights that shed their usual elegance and transform into a twinkling Christmas spectacle. Homes transform into illuminated castles and glistening gingerbread houses. You’ll also see everything from traditional nativity scenes to whimsical snow globes and fantastical creatures.

The best part is that there are plenty of ways to enjoy the River Oaks holiday lights. You can get around with horse carriage rides, a limo, an open-air bus, hayrides, or a private bus charter. 

After you explore the neighborhood, you can also check out the Bayou Bend Christmas Village nearby. Here, you can enjoy the wonderful lights, shop, watch a live performance, eat, and more.

Shepherd Park Plaza Christmas Lights in Houston

The Shepherd Park Plaza Christmas lights tradition dates back to the 1960s and it’s truly one of the best Houston neighborhood Christmas lights displays.

One of their highlights is the luminous arches lining up the neighborhood’s streets. The arches are carefully handcrafted and maintained by the residents. Beyond that, many homes come alive at night with thousands of dazzling lights and displays. From synchronized displays to charming and quaint setups, there’s plenty of variety for you to enjoy.

Lights in the Heights

Lights in the Heights is one of Houston’s most iconic neighborhood light displays. Woodlands residents don’t hold back in decorating their homes and making sure visitors feel the Christmas spirit.

Some residents even hold porch parties and performances. However, before attending one of these, please check if it’s open to the public or if it’s exclusive to residents only. For more information, please visit their website.

During the season, the roads in the area are closed off allowing all visitors to wander the streets, take pictures, and enjoy the beautifully decorated homes.
