The Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center, a project of the Children’s Museum of Houston, is 12,000 square feet of cultural and educational exhibits for children. All exhibits give children the opportunity to experience them firsthand, in a safe way. With four hands-on exhibits, the Discovery Center is a great destination for children of all ages.

Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center – Exhibits to Explore
Kidtropolis, USA
You’ll look twice at Kidtropolis, a city run by kids that looks just like Fort Bend county! This exhibit helps teach kids about financial literacy and civic engagement. Watch as your children become shoppers, business owners, and leaders in Kidtropolis.
How Does It Work?
Are your little ones interested in engineering and aerodynamics? Physics and chemistry? Get hands-on experiences at the How Does It Work exhibit. The exhibit includes many interactive activities, including a Kid Lift, which allows you to raise yourself in the air to see how pulleys work and an overhead ball coaster to see how objects travel.
Shocks & Jolts
It’s electric! This exhibit is all about the properties of electromagnetism and provides children with the opportunity to build their own circuits. Shocks and Jolts include activities like the electromagnetic launcher, chain, and ring launcher, all while learning about electricity and magnetic fields.
Cum Yah Gullah
Experience Gullah life and heritage with this cultural gallery at the Discovery Center. Here, children can dive into the history of Gullah culture and reflect on their own cultures. From music to storytelling, children will experience Gullah life through sounds and musical traditions and even get to play in a Gullah Home.
Fort Bend Children’s Discovery Center – Plan Your Visit
Before heading to the Discovery Center, be sure to reserve your tickets online, as advanced online tickets are required to enter. Museum member? Walk-ups are permitted with your membership!
The museum is open from 10 AM to 6 PM Tuesdays through Saturdays and offers free parking.
General admission, which includes all exhibits, begins at $12 per person, $11 for seniors 65 and up, and free for children under one and members.
