When you have little ones (especially if one of them is an infant), taking a family vacation can be expensive and stressful. That’s why this summer we decided to do a staycation here in Houston instead. And thanks to the new Summer Splash Package from the Four Seasons, it was a memorable experience that was fun for the whole family.
The moment we arrived at FS Houston in Downtown we were greeted with a warm welcome and given amazing service. At the check-in desk, the friendly staff greeted us by name and gifted our little ones each with their own cute little stuffed horse that they immediately fell in love with and are still playing with today. The staff also took the time to come out from behind the desk and chat with our 3-year-old and fawn over our little baby to make them feel right at home. As a guest, I loved the extra effort, and it really helped the staycation get off on the right foot.
After taking a look around the beautiful lobby, we headed up to our executive sweet on the 12th floor where we were welcomed with some delicious snacks and a personalized plate of cookies and sweets for the kids. Our oldest immediately devoured the cookies before I even had a chance to snap a picture!
By the way, the view from our room was great. The Toyota Center and House of Blues looked especially great at night, and more importantly, our room overlooked the gorgeous pool and hot tub. The pool area is beautifully laid out with palm trees, live oak trees, a bar, outdoor games (giant Connect Four, Cornhole, etc.), and a huge deck with plenty of room to lay out in the numerous chairs all around.
Of course, you know we had to head down to that pool straight away. Again, the service at the pool was excellent. We were immediately greeted and they helped us find the perfect seats for our family. After ordering some drinks (margaritas for the adults and a lemonade for the big girl) and relaxing for a bit, we got in the pool. There were tons of pool toys available for kids to enjoy, and at night on Saturdays, they have a family movie night by the pool with lots of snacks and candy and even a pizza making class for kids. It’s a great way to cap off the night if you decide to stay on the hotel property.
After tiring ourselves out at the pool, we decided to grab dinner. The Four Seasons has some great restaurants, but we knew we’d be eating at the hotel’s Quattro for breakfast so we decided to venture out to get a bite nearby. That’s another great thing about staying at FS Houston for a staycation — there are tons of restaurants nearby that you can easily walk to in just a couple minutes. We decided to walk over to Guadalajara for some delicious Mexican food, and had a great family dinner.
Finally, it was time to call it a night. The Executive Suite had plenty of room for our family of four — a king bed, sofabed, and crib were all present in this large, versatile space.
After a great night’s sleep, we got ready and headed down to Quattro for breakfast. Thanks to the $50 credit that comes with the Summer Splash Package (you can use it toward dining, spa, or the Topgolf Swing Suite), the family enjoyed an absolutely amazing meal that consisted of everything from Churros French Toast to Smoked Salmon to classics like eggs, hash browns, sausage, and pancakes.
Thankfully, the accommodating Four Seasons staff offered us a late checkout at 2 pm, which gave our family one more chance to take advantage of the pool before wrapping up our Houston staycation.
All in all, it was so great to change up our normal routine and spend some time enjoying our great city and the beautiful Four Seasons Hotel with the kids. The entire experience was excellent from start to finish, and the oldest kid is already asking if we can go back soon.
