Several Houston hospitals and organizations offer free or discount mammograms all year long for uninsured women, not just during October’s Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Here is a snapshot of a few — with a link to the whole list at the end:

The Rose:

Galleria and Southeast — 281-484-4708. You must request free/low cost mammogram when calling.

M.D. Anderson Project Valet:

Project VALET (Providing Valuable Area Life-Saving Exams in Town) is a mammography education and screening program for uninsured women, age 40-69 with no symptoms. It provides free mobile mammography to the communities where these eligible women live. The first step is to make an appointment with one of the participating clinics. Find them online at mdanderson.org.

CHI St. Luke’s Health:

Houston: 832.355.8130. You must request free/low cost mammogram when calling.

UTMB Galveston:

Mobile Mammography Sunday Program offers free screening mammograms for uninsured women. You must register in advance by November 1. Get more info online about how to register.

MammoSafe:

This 39ft. luxury coach provides mobile mammography throughout Houston. Uninsured women can get a mammogram for $150. Request an appointment online or call 832.975.7824.
