Magical Winter Lights Houston has returned for another dazzling season, transforming the city into a shimmering spectacle that’s guaranteed to put you in the holiday spirit.
Here’s everything you need to know about the Magic Winter Lights before you wander through themed gardens that ignite your imagination!

Festive Carnival Rides and Games, Lantern Attractions, and Character Entertainment at the Magical Winter Lights Houston 2024
Over two million LED lights paint the landscape in vibrant hues, weaving a tapestry of festive joy across Katy Mills. As you step through their twinkling archways, you’ll be transported into a luminous world of enchantment. Aside from the beautiful Christmas lights, however, there will be plenty of other things to enjoy.
This year’s festival boasts a full-fledged carnival, tons of beautiful multi-themed lantern attractions, and character entertainment.
Carnival Rides and Games
Whether you’re a kid or a kid at heart, plenty of carnival games will satisfy your cravings for a fun thrill. There will be the Gondola Wheel, Fireball, Monkey Maze, Monster Trucks, Sizzler, Zero Gravity, and more.

Don’t forget to satisfy your sweet tooth and get all of your favorite carnival foods. Treat yourself to funnel cakes, popcorn, and more! Minimum height requirement 36.
Note: Carnival admission is NOT included with your admission to Magical Winter Lights. You will need to purchase admission to MWL as well as carnival ride wristbands or individual ride tickets online or onsite at the carnival box office.
Lantern Attractions
The later attractions of Magical Winter Lights Houston 2024 are one thing you should never miss! This year, there will be seven areas for you to explore.
- The Kingdom: Here, you’ll find towering castles, whimsical creatures, and magical forests. While exploring this realm, you can simply let your imagination run wild.
- The Village: The Village is a beautifully designed space inspired by the charming town squares of Europe. Here, you can find everything you need to get into the holiday spirit, from festive decorations to delicious food and drinks.
- Dinosaur Kingdom: Here, you can find a collection of over 1,000 dinosaur fossils, including some of the world’s most complete and well-preserved specimens. There is even a life-size dinosaur park where visitors can walk among replicas of some of the largest and most fearsome dinosaurs ever.
- Houston: This section is a tribute to the great city Magical Winter Lights calls its home. Here, you’ll find plenty of the things that make the city one-of-a-kind.
- The Space: This is a labyrinth of twists and turns where you’ll encounter all sorts of strange and beautiful creatures, from aliens to robots. Will you find your way out of the maze and return to Earth?
- The Ice: The Ice Section is a magical winter wonderland where you can walk among towering ice sculptures, explore icy canyons, and meet adorable penguins.
- The Sea: This section is a magical underwater world where you can explore the ocean’s mysteries, meet the little mermaid, and even see what it’s like to be eaten by a shark.
Character Entertainment
The ice sisters are back again this year! Although they might be far away from Arendelle, they’re bringing the charm of their sisterly love and magical powers over to Houston for all guests to enjoy.

Katy Mills Magical Winter Lights Houston Dates and Hours
Enamored by the Magical Winter Lights photos from last year? This year, the Winter Lights Houston will be open from November 15, 2024 to January 5, 2025! You can experience all of the attractions and the main event, the Houston Magical Winter Lights, from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm on Sundays to Thursdays and 5:00 pm to 11:00 pm on Fridays to Saturdays.
Do note that there are extended hours for Thanksgiving Day as well as the days December 24, 2024, to January 4, 2025, which are 5:00 pm – 11:00 pm.

There are 2 ways to purchase Magical Lights Houston tickets: online or on-site (box office tickets.) Do note that online sales stop at 4:30 pm the day of the show so you can purchase tickets after this time on-site as needed.

Magical Winter Lights Katy Parking
At this year’s Magical Lights Houston, parking is free!
Parking is at Fort Bend County Fairgrounds, 4310 TX-36 S, Rosenberg, TX 77471.
If you’re entering from Hwy 36, enter via Fairgrounds Blvd and turn onto W Fairgrounds Rd. If you’re coming from SW FWY Frontage Rd., enter Via Fairgrounds Blvd and turn onto W Fairgrounds Rd.
