Looking to do a little redecorating in your home but don’t want to spend a fortune? Houston’s Southwest Surplus, a second-hand furniture store, is closing its doors to the public on February 16, and they’re running a huge sale to clear out their massive warehouse.
According to KPRC2’s Amy Davis, the owner of the furniture resale shop has decided sold the property, and that means he has just 30 days left to clear the property of all the chairs, sofas, tables, TVs, decor, and other items.
That means you can get everything from flat-screen televisions for just $25 to lamps for only $5. It’s the perfect time to do some redecorating around the house for the new decade without breaking the bank!
A few things you should know before you go:
- The place is huge–The warehouse is 50,000 sq. ft. and it’s loaded with all sorts of furniture and decor. Definitely plan to spend some time shopping around!
- You’ll have to do some digging–Many customers have noted that the store isn’t very well organized and it can be overwhelming. You’ll have to be prepared to do a little treasure hunting if you want to find that perfect item.
- Items are second hand–This is a resale shop, so the items aren’t brand new. In fact, it’s mostly second-hand hotel furniture from Hilton, Doubletree, Westin, and the like, so if used furniture freaks you out, this sale might not be for you. Make sure you check any items for scratches or dents before you buy them.
- You only have until February 16–There’s just one month left at the time of this writing to shop the closing sale at Southwest Surplus. We’d imagine that prices will continue to drop as the closing date approaches.
Southwest Surplus is located at 7700 North Freeway, Houston TX 77037. They’re open Monday-Saturday from 9 am to 6 pm, and while they’re normally closed on Sundays, there has been talk that they may be open on Sundays through the closing date in February.
